Custom Flat Tarps

$6.00

Notice: Ordering of custom tarps is temporarily on hold through the busy season. Thanks for your patience.

Build the tarp that's right for you.
Pick your fabric --> Pick your width --> Pick your length --> Pick your tie-out pattern --> CAMP!

Offered in either Recycled Silpoly or Silnylon. The 20D Silpoly won't sag when the temperature drops and is a little lighter, while the 30D Silnylon has great tear strength and can be made a bit wider. Learn more about material considerations on our Materials Page. Sorry, custom tarps are not available in DCF at this time.

The color for both fabrics is Slate Gray. The Silpoly has a hydrostatic head of ~2000mm while the Silnylon is ~3500mm.

Please understand that I can't provide weight estimates for tarps at this time nor accept returns on custom tarps.

Made in Montana, USA from imported fabric.

Tie-out Information

Tie-outs are made with 5/8" grosgrain webbing with a reflective stripe. If you prefer no reflective material, please leave a comment in the requests box. Perimeter and panel tie-outs come with a loop of 250# Dacron cord (perimeter) or 3/32" shockcord (panel) tied to them (1/8" shockcord available by request). This places wear and tear on the easily replaceable loop rather than the webbing, especially when staking directly to the ground. These loops also allow the installation and non-destructive removal of Lineloc tensioners using a girth hitch. To see how to install Linelocs and how to replace the loops, please see the Tie-outs & Guying" page.

Hang loops at the ends of the ridge are 1/2" webbing with both a small loop and a d-ring. Other hang loops are made with a loop of 3/8" grosgrain.

All tie-out and hang loop locations are reinforced. Perimeter tie-outs are reinforced with a second layer of Silpoly or Silnylon. The tie-outs at the ends of the ridgeline are additionally reinforced with a subsequent layer of 70D ripstop silnylon. Panel tie-outs and hang loops are reinforced with a small square of gridstop fabric. In locations where hangloops coincide with panel tie-outs, the hang loop is sewn to the reinforcement, sealed on the inside, then sewn to the tarp. The exterior tie is sewn on last. This avoids a direct thread connection between the inner and outer webbing that could otherwise wick water and be difficult to seal.

Tie-out configurations

Tie-outs and hang loops will be evenly spaced as shown below. If you prefer uneven spacing, please specify it in the comments box when building your tarp. For example, maybe you choose hang loop pattern #3 but want a hang loop 15" in from the end rather than centered between the middle and the end.

Product Availability

Unless otherwise stated, if the item is available to add to your cart, then it is in-stock and available to ship. Please see the shipping tab for expected fulfillment times.

If the item is marked as "sold out" or "available to backorder" then please refer to the production calendar and the FAQ below for more information.

Q: Why is so much stuff sold out?!

A: As a solo-operation, my capacity is very limited, and I can't make products nearly quickly enough to meet demand. I only sell what I have in-stock, and don't typically take backorders. I know this can make it hard for you to plan, but in the longer term, it should help me to serve you better. See the last question for more info about this.

Q: When can I expect the item I'm interested in to become available?

A: For most items, please refer to the production calendar at the bottom of this page. This calendar shows when I expect to work on more substantial products. For some accessory products, production may not always be scheduled in advance and availability may be unpredictable.

FYI: If you do not see the item that you are interested in, then I do not know when it may become available (I don't have a private schedule beyond what's shown!).

Q: Can I pre-order, back-order, or reserve an item?

A: I'm afraid not. Out of fairness to everyone, I don't make special arrangements to reserve products. On rare occasions, I may open a product up for back-ordering to everyone (or a new product for pre-ordering). When this happens, it's made available to order on the website. If you are signed up for the stock notification, you will receive a notice that the item is available to order.

Q: Can you let me know when the item becomes available?

A: Yes. On the product page, enter your email address in the space provided to be automatically notified when inventory becomes available. If you don't see where you can do this, please let me know; sometimes there's a fluke in the settings and the field doesn't show. Please note that the email notification could get filtered out as spam. You can try to 'whitelist' info@yamamountaingear.com to make sure the email comes through.

Q: Why do you do things this way, and what are you doing to improve the situation?

A: For years I followed the more common back-order model, basically making everything to order. This approach made it challenging to increase production, limited time available to design new products or refine existing ones, impacted my personal/outdoor time, and meant long waits to get your gear delivered. I changed my approach when I moved to Montana in 2019. Offering only what's already made allows me to work and plan more efficiently, and makes hiring help much more feasible. I'm currently in the process of hiring, and hopefully you'll start seeing more products stay in stock a little bit longer soon.

NOTES ON USING THE CALENDAR

- For products shown on the calendar, you can typically expect the item to be made available towards the end, or soon after the period shown on the calendar. Sometimes, however, some items may be listed earlier in the period. For example, if the calendar shows that I'm working on tapered tarps, certain sizes may become available earlier within the period with other sizes coming later.

- Please note that you can change the month shown on the calendar using the arrows at the top.
