Pole Placement
Using a pole external to the shelter.
- Position the pole vertically and far enough away from the shelter to avoid interference with the beak. The pole should be taller than the peak to provide some upward pull on the peak. There are multiple ways to secure the pole to the guyline:
Option 1: Insert the pole's tip into the grommet on the guyline. Position the pole vertically and far enough away from the shelter to avoid interference with the beak. The pole should be taller than the peak to provide some upward pull on the peak.
Option 2: Run the guyline over the top of the trekking pole’s basket. You might try looping the line around the pole once for extra security.
Option 3: Orient the pole tip down and pass the guyline through the hand strap.
Option 4: If your pole doesn’t have a strap or a pointy tip, store some duct tape on the pole by wrapping it around the pole. You can then wrap the guyline around the pole using the lip created by the tape to prevent the line from sliding downward.
