2P Bug Shelter

$185.00

Don't let pesky bugs ruin your night. No-See-Um netting keeps out the smallest critters while the tub-floor blocks moisture from below.

  • Multiple entry points from the front or either side.
  • ~8" tub-floor.
  • Two interior stash pockets
  • One interior hang loop.

This net-tent is designed to pair with our 2P Cirriform Tarp, but will also work with larger a-frame style tarps such as our 9'/7' x 9' tarp. Rigging to connect the Bug Shelter to your tarp comes installed. To pitch the shelter without a tarp, you'll need additional guyline for the apexes and six stakes (guyline and stakes are not included).

The floor is available in either 20D Silpoly for lower weight, or 40D Silpoly for better durability. 20D floors tend to be vulnerable to things like pine needle puncture and will benefit from the addition of a groundsheet in some locations. Note that seam sealing is needed prior to use. Seams needing sealing are the vertical seams at each tub corner (4), and the seams between the tub's sides and bottom of the floor (2).

Two pockets hang from the tub along the head wall. They are constructed of woven mesh to avoid snagging and to provide visibility of the contents. Note that the color of the pockets is random and may be black or blue.

Made in the USA from imported fabric.

  • Floor area: 29ft2 | 2.69m2
  • Approx. packed size: 9" x 6" x 3" | 23cm x 15cm x 8cm

Required items:

No additional items are required to pair the 2P Bug Shelter with the 2P Cirriform. The same is true for pairing with most a-frame style tarps, though some setups may benefit from the use of four stakes for staking out the floor.

To pitch the Bug Shelter without a tarp, you will need the following items:

  • Front Pole: At least ~46" (~117cm)
  • Rear Pole: At least ~27" (~69cm)
    (taller poles are ok)
  • Front Guyline: ~84" (~210cm)
  • Rear Guyline: 72" (~180cm)
  • Stakes: 6
Included rigging

Your net-tent comes with the following rigging installed. Though configured for pairing with the 2P Cirriform, the rigging will allow for pairing with some other a-frame tarps as well.

  • Tops corners of tub: 36" of 1.1mm UHMWPE Core cord & squeeze hook at each upper tub corner
  • Apexes: 1.5mm UHMWPE Cord with mini barrel cordlocks & mitten hooks

Pitching under a tarp (Option 1)

This is the recommended approach for pitching under the 2P Cirriform.

  • Pitch the tarp.
  • Clip the Bug Shelter's apexes to points above on the tarp.
  • Connect the cords at the Bug Shelter's corners to the tarp's corners.
  • Adjust the cords at the apexes to raise the Bug Shelter to the desired height.
  • Adjust the cords at the tub's corners to pull out the tub.
  • If desired, stake the bottom corners of the tub. Otherwise, let the tub hang.

Pitching under a tarp (Option 2)

This is the recommended approach for pitching under larger a-frame tarps.

  • Pitch the tarp.
  • Clip the Bug Shelter's apexes to points above on the tarp.
  • Adjust the cords at the apexes to raise the Bug Shelter to the desired height.
  • At each tub corner, clip the squeeze hook to the tie-out at the floors bottom corner. Cord should be adjusted to its maximum length.
  • At each tub corner, stake the cord that now connects the upper and lower corners so the cord forms a triangle with the upper and lower tub corners.

Pitching without a tarp

For times when you only need bug protection and no tarp.

  • At each tub corner, clip the squeeze hook to the tie-out at the floors bottom corner. Cord should be adjusted to its maximum length.
  • At each tub corner, stake the cord that now connects the upper and lower corners so the cord forms a triangle with the upper and lower tub corners.
  • Connect a guyline to the cords at each apex.
  • Stake out the apex guylines, using a pole near each end to provide height.
  • Adjust the guyline length as needed using the cordlocks installed at each apex.

Product Availability

  • In most cases, items that are available to add to your cart are in-stock and ready to ship. Please refer to the shipping tab or page for expected fulfillment times.
  • Some items may be marked as "Avalable to backorder," "Made to order," and/or show a lead time. In these cases refer to the information on the product page for expected fulfillment times.
  • For items that are sold out, please refer to the production calendar and the Q & A below for more information.

Q: When can I expect the item I'm interested in to become available?

A: For most items, please refer to the production calendar at the bottom of this page. This calendar shows when we expect to work on more substantial products. For some accessory products, production may not always be scheduled in advance and availability may be unpredictable.

FYI: If you do not see the item that you are interested in, then we do not know when it may become available (We're often not scheduled far out in advance and don't have a private schedule beyond what's shown!).

Q: Can I pre-order, back-order, or reserve an item?

A: We don't typically reserve products, however there are some exceptions to this. For example, if someone orders an in-stock Cirriform and wants to also order an out-of-stock Bug Shelter for it, if the Bug Shelter is expected within a couple weeks, we'll usually make arrangements to reserve one of the Bug Shelters and hold the order so shipping may be combined.

On occasion, select products may be available to back-order or pre-order. When this happens, that status will be shown on the product page. If you're signed up for the stock notification, you will receive a notice that the item is available to back/pre-order.

Q: Can you let me know when the item becomes available?

A: Yes. On the product page, enter your email address in the space provided to be automatically notified when inventory becomes available. If you don't see where you can do this, please let me know; sometimes there's a fluke in the settings and the field doesn't show. Please note that the email notification could get filtered out as spam. You can try to 'whitelist' info@yamamountaingear.com to make sure the email comes through.

NOTES ON USING THE CALENDAR

- For products shown on the calendar, you can typically expect the item to be made available towards the end, or soon after the period shown on the calendar. Sometimes, however, some items may be listed earlier in the period. For example, if the calendar shows that I'm working on tapered tarps, certain sizes may become available earlier within the period with other sizes coming later.

- Items that specify "ongoing production" mean that we are continually working on these items and doing our best to maintain inventory. If the item or a particular size is sold out, you can expect it to likely become available soon.

- Please note that you can change the month shown on the calendar using the arrows at the top.
