So much better than the standard Solomon bungee straps. Thank you for making these. I bought more for my other vests.
A cold weather friend to haul cold weather gear! Great size to carry a mid layer, hat, and gloves for when camp will be colder than the hike
Took the Clearance 1P Cirraform DW on Florida's Apalachicola River with 8 of my cohorts. The Cirraform performed well beyond my expectations. Got it dialed in on setting up. The stakes need to be deployed in the same direction as the seam to get the perfect pitch. Set up in torrential rain for days and it kept me dry. Absolutely love the different pitch heights it offers. Florida has 4 seasons that all end with summer so I use the 3V's rule when selecting tents or shelters for purchase. The 3V's is Ventilation, Ventilation, Ventilation! The Cirraform has it. Im extremely pleased with my purchase and am excited to get the 2P DW as well. 1P for backpacking and 2P for kayak camping. Adventures before Dimentia!
The product description for this tarp is absolutely right - this tarp is the sweet spot size-wise for the solo camper. As with everything I’ve purchased from Yama Mountain Gear, the design and execution in the production of the tarp are flawless. I especially appreciate details like the thoughtful layout of the hang loops - five, whereas with some bigger ‘cottage’ companies, you’re lucky if you get two. I’m looking forward to more adventures with this tarp!
This is far and away the best bug shelter or bivy I have used. The space inside is very roomy for such an incredibly light shelter and the three-way zappers make getting in and out a breeze. The suspension system for the bathtub floor is really ingenious and works perfectly. Overall this is one of my favourite pieces of kit - I absolutely love it!
Should add rigging gear. I’d rather pay more and have it ready to use than to find it on the website and buy separately
Thanks for making these kits when you have time. The already measured, cut, and looped cord meant I could focus on getting the rest of the gear ready for the trip. Glad you not only sell the completed gear, but also the parts to make our own things.
Optional item to have, if you already bought the rigging kit. Good lightweight backup to pickup for the cost. I suspect the plastic/pleather used may wear over time. I would like to try using to make an easier to setup clothesline.
Lightweight and held up to wind whipping around. Made it possible to leave the tent setup as a day tent while still allowing the use of trekking poles. Each is also lighter than a trekking pole, if one chooses not to use trekking poles.
Packs small and easier than heavier tents. Plenty water proof despite its lightness. The adjustable tarp to ground distance stops the water splash from getting in. Best part is the breathability while keeping bugs and rain away. Condensation is of course possible, but only when the outside temp gets below the dewpoint. I had no problems with breath condensation, and in fact the tent was drier closer to my head.
Minor thing, it would have been nice to have kits or a parts list to add to cart including: extra tension cord, mitten hooks, spring-loaded cord stop. This is to make the bug bivy more taught and keep bugs further away. Something I plan on trying out thanks to the already sew in points to attach to between the tarp and bivy.
Major upgrade personally, would be to make a lightweight ground cloth that has stretch cord and points to change width so that I have more space to layout gear next to tent. Roll it up so it fits under the tarp if there is rain, and add hooks to stop it from blowing away from the bivy. Maybe add in a couple built in mini stakes instead.
Easy to set up, lightweight, great stow away bags. excited for more adventures with it.
Excellent customer service
I am new to tarp camping, but have backpacked for years. I have a new 8 by 10 ultra TNT tarp, with hooks underneath, makes setup a breeze. I have your 1p net tent. The attention to detail is great, I like the big pocket on the inside and the hook on ceiling for a light or thermometer. There’s room on the side of you, for stuff and depending on how high or low you setup, the more or less room you have while still having a bathtub floor. I can also fit my 40 liter pack at the foot end no problem. (6 foot pad) I like the 2 doors, on a nice day, pitch it high and use the big side door, unzips maybe 5 feet down along bottom, and you can tie it back (great for setting up air pad and quilt etc) or use the head end door in rain or in a storm pitch. All sewing looks fantastic. I just used it on a 2 night trip on long trail and on the 3rd day of a 3 night trip in Massachusetts on AT, as we speak. I am actually writing this from inside net tent. There’s enough room to move around and have enough space to keep some stuff. I really could not be happier with net tent. Especially not having ever used one before. Fantastic bit of kit. Thanks.
Very well crafted piece of gear. The attention to detail, as usual, is great and the size is just about perfect. I'd prefer the foot end to be just a little taller, but overall an excellent complement to a flat or shaped tarp.
I've used this tarp, paired with the bug shelter, for around 20 nights now. It's light, packs nice in my bag, and pretty easy to setup. I'm 5'4", so sitting up is no problem for me. I stayed very dry when it rained an inch in 5 hours, and it held up to gusts of up to 40mph (supposedly). I did get hit with some splashback from the side via puddles, and my backpack got hit as well when placed at the front. But my friends staying in traditional freestanding tents got a bit wet as well. Overall, I enjoy this tent and don't intend on getting another for a very long time.
This thing is incredibly beautiful. The tarp by itself is roomy. The bug net is still more than spacious enough for someone over 6 feet tall. Well done Yama Mountain Gear.
Knocks off 4 stakes, makes setup a breeze, saves off a whole bunch weight and gives you an actual high bathtub shelter that allows for a setup of a standalone bivy without a tarp while enjoying a sunrise and sunset. So smart and simple! And it looks great. Damn I love this thing.
Can't wait to put the cirriform to work on upcoming thruhike. Craftsmanship looks great !! Tarp was mailed and was recieved extremely quick. Would'nt hesitate to buy from again. Thank you
The shrike is a flexible, durable, and comfortable pack. I've used it for day hikes, short runs, long runs, and fast packing. The modularity is very well thought out and, though I'll still reach for a dedicated vest for a lot of my local runs, if I'm carrying any significant weight the shrike is the best option I have. The added structure generates a lot of support typical running vests lack and makes it far easier to run comfortably with weight.
Just got my cirraform 1p and I love it. It's very versatile. I have it paired with a Borah gear bug bivy and it works great. I think I will be adding the bug net tent for those trips that I'm doing less miles and spend more time in the tent.
