Learn About the ‘New’ Swiftline
The 1P Swiftline prioritizes livability, with room to sit, room to sleep, and an intuitive pitch. It’s a double-wall shelter for trips where you want to go light without sacrificing comfort.
The original Swiftline
A new take on our proven design
The Swiftline has been part of our story for a long time. First conceptualized in 2010/11 and brought to life in 2013, it helped define what a lightweight, livable shelter could be. For seven years, it proved itself on trails around the world - until production challenges led us to pause. We’ve refined the design and made key updates, but the soul of the design remains. This is the New Swiftline, and we are so excited it’s back.
Open layout
On clear nights, roll back the tent walls for a more open and connected experience. Gaze at the stars while remaining protected from the bugs.
Interior space
The Swiftline was a pioneer of the offset pole structure. The diagonal ridgeline puts headroom where you sit, plus volume above your head and at your feet when lying down.
The inner net provides about 43” of interior height along the ridge. At the head and foot, you’ll find ~10” of vertical space before the walls slope in. Check out the topo maps below to see the full profile.
Click to enlargeQuick, intuitive pitch - fly first, pole handles up
Stake the four corners, insert and stake the poles, then stake the vestibules. Use eight stakes for maximum stability in storms, or six to save weight.
Pitching the fly first keeps the inner dry in the rain. For faster setup, you can leave both pieces clipped together and pitch them as one.
Orient your trekking poles so the tips point down. This protects the fly from punctures and keeps your pole handles out of reach of nibbling critters.
Designed for trekking poles, with optional tent poles available if you prefer.
Convenience: Side-entry & vestibule space
Enter and exit easily from the side with a zipper that can be operated with one hand. The side vestibule keeps your gear accessible without blocking the door.
Double-wall design
The Swiftline consists of two modular components: a rain fly and an inner net tent. Use the fly solo for a minimalist tarp setup, or pair them together for full protection. The double-wall design creates an air gap between layers that, along with vented apexes, mitigates condensation buildup.
Material options
Silpoly fabric and aggressive curves create a taut, wind-shedding pitch that won’t sag in the rain. The fly uses recycled fabric, and the inner comes in two options: a lighter recycled Sil/Sil coated floor with 0.5 oz netting, or a more durable Sil/PU coated floor with 0.6 oz netting for better puncture resistance and grip.
We use a durable #5 Aquaguard zipper on the fly and a lighter #3 on the inner. Zipper sliders are often the first component to wear out, so regular cleaning and lubrication helps extend their life - especially in dusty conditions. If you ever need the sliders replaced, just get in touch.
Long, effective tub-floor
The Swiftline’s floor measures 30” wide x 92” long. The 8” tub walls taper outward to 34” x 96” at the top, giving you more elbow room.
The generous length and deep tub keep your head and feet away from condensation on the tent walls. Tall users especially benefit from this extra space, while others retain more usable room when pitching the shelter low to the ground.

Required items (not included):
- Seam Sealer: You will need to seal the seams (or use our optional sealing service) prior to use. The sealer should be for silicone coated fabrics - we recommend Gear Aid Seam Grip +Sil
-
Trekking Poles: About 120cm (~47") for full height of the shelter.
Or use our optional tent poles. - Stakes: 6 (8 for better wind stability)
Notes/FAQ:
- Do I need a groundsheet? A groundsheet is NOT required, but using one will help extend the life of any floor.
- Do I need to seal the seams? Rain fly seams should be sealed using a sealer for silicone-coated fabrics (we recommend Seam Grip +SIL by Gear Aid). Seal the seams on the outside surface. Optional seam sealing service available. The seams at the floors corners may also be sealed with the same sealer, though it's not usually a necessity.
- Can I use the inner with other tarps? The Swiftline inner is unlikely to work well with other tarps, so we don't recommend it.
- Do your Bug Shelters or Bivys work with the rain fly? We do not recommend it. While you might be able to set them up in a pinch, they would be misshapen and difficult to use.
How to pitch
- Prep: Set your poles to about 120 - 122 cm (47 - 48").
- Stake corners: Stake out the four main corners in a rectangle.
- Insert and stake poles: Pass poles under the fly, grab through the vent and nest the handle in the pole cup. Then stake out the apexes.
- Stake vestibule: Stake out the remaining two corners.
- Adjust: Adjust guylines and stakes to acheive a taut and balanced pitch.
- Attach inner: Clip the inner to the fly at the apexes and corners. Shorten connecting cords to tighten.
Tip: When breaking camp, leave the inner and outer connected so your shelter is ready for a quick, seamless setup next time.
Product Availability
- In most cases, items that are available to add to your cart are in-stock and ready to ship. Please refer to the shipping tab or page for expected fulfillment times.
- Some items may be marked as "Avalable to backorder," "Made to order," and/or show a lead time. In these cases refer to the information on the product page for expected fulfillment times.
- For items that are sold out, please refer to the production calendar and the Q & A below for more information.
Q: When can I expect the item I'm interested in to become available?
A: For most items, please refer to the production calendar at the bottom of this page. This calendar shows when we expect to work on more substantial products. For some accessory products, production may not always be scheduled in advance and availability may be unpredictable.
FYI: If you do not see the item that you are interested in, then we do not know when it may become available (We're often not scheduled far out in advance and don't have a private schedule beyond what's shown!).
Q: Can I pre-order, back-order, or reserve an item?
A: We don't typically reserve products, however there are some exceptions to this. For example, if someone orders an in-stock Cirriform and wants to also order an out-of-stock Bug Shelter for it, if the Bug Shelter is expected within a couple weeks, we'll usually make arrangements to reserve one of the Bug Shelters and hold the order so shipping may be combined.
On occasion, select products may be available to back-order or pre-order. When this happens, that status will be shown on the product page. If you're signed up for the stock notification, you will receive a notice that the item is available to back/pre-order.
Q: Can you let me know when the item becomes available?
A: Yes. On the product page, enter your email address in the space provided to be automatically notified when inventory becomes available. If you don't see where you can do this, please let me know; sometimes there's a fluke in the settings and the field doesn't show. Please note that the email notification could get filtered out as spam. You can try to 'whitelist' info@yamamountaingear.com to make sure the email comes through.
NOTES ON USING THE CALENDAR
- For products shown on the calendar, you can typically expect the item to be made available towards the end, or soon after the period shown on the calendar. Sometimes, however, some items may be listed earlier in the period. For example, if the calendar shows that I'm working on tapered tarps, certain sizes may become available earlier within the period with other sizes coming later.
- Items that specify "ongoing production" mean that we are continually working on these items and doing our best to maintain inventory. If the item or a particular size is sold out, you can expect it to likely become available soon.
- Please note that you can change the month shown on the calendar using the arrows at the top.
