In my last email, I talked about my ambitions for the Tour Divide, and if you followed that to my blog post, I made it sound like my shakedown ride wasn't going to happen. Well, I just couldn't help it. Last week I rode an abbreviated, 454-mile shakedown as the race passed through our area.
On the ride, I wore a Sassafras pack and used our upcoming 1P Cirriform SW. Using it on the Divide felt like coming full circle. That's where the original SW was first conceived 14 years ago! More on that and the new SW in the next email.
The ride was brutal. No surprises there. But also so good to roll through the mountains. When I'm pushing hard, I feel like I've been away for so much longer; those four days felt like a week or more. I wrote a full trip report here.
