Rigging for stand-alone bivy pitch

$13.75

The stand-alone rigging kit simplifies the setup of your YAMA Bivy when pitched on its own (without a tarp).

The rigging works with most adjustable trekking poles, or our tent pole sets, and requires only four stakes. Additionally, pole stability and ease of pitch is better than when using a single line for each pole. Adjustability is provided by a section of shock cord at the center of each line and a sqeeze hook near each end.

  • Squeeze hooks provide quick and easy adjustments.
  • Shock cord loops at the grommets facilitate storage.
  • Black color with reflective tracer.
  • White cord loop designates head end while black loop designates foot.
  • Strong and light, UHMWPE core.

To learn how to use the rigging, please see the "Instructions" tab.

Notes: NOT for use with the Bug Shelter (different from Bug Bivy). Poles and stakes are not included.

Weight:
  • Bug Bivy version: 17g | 0.60 oz
Cords:
  • 1.1mm HDPE core w/ polyester cover
  • 3/32" shock cord

Current version:

  • On each cord you'll find a grommet at the center, a loop at each end, and a squeeze hook near each end.
  • The set with a white cord loop tied to the grommet is for the head end. The set with a black loop is for the foot end.
  • Clip the shock cords running from the shelters four corners to the squeeze hooks (if your shock cords have mitten hooks tied to the ends, it works well to set the cord into the squeeze hook as shown in the photo.)
  • Clip the shock cords attached to your shelter's apexes to the cord loops on the grommets.
  • Stake out the cords so the tub's corners are pulled evenly at all four corners.
  • Insert your poles into the grommets and tension the apexes as necessary.
  • Adjust the squeeze hook locations as necessary.

For users of the original version:

On each cord you'll find a grommet at the center and multiple loops tied on the ends. For your initial set-up, at each end, clip the shock cord running from the bivy's apex to the loop at the grommet. Then clip the shock cords running from the tub corners to one of the loops near the end of the cord on each side. This should be one loop above the one you intend to stake through. For longer poles, you'll tend to use the loops closer to the ends, while for shorter poles you'll tend to use the ones closer to the center. Stake out the cords so the tub's corners are pulled evenly at all four corners, then insert your poles into the grommets and tension the apexes as necessary. If there's too much slack, move the stakes and clips to loops closer to the middle of the cord. Or, if there's too much tension, move them further out towards the ends.

Subsequent pitches should be much easier and faster since you'll have figured out the appropriate loops to use and roughly where to place your stakes. You may also wish to keep the cords clipped to the bivy when you stow it for faster setup the next time.

After some time, you may wish to trim the cords if you find that you always have excess length.

Product Availability

  • In most cases, items that are available to add to your cart are in-stock and ready to ship. Please refer to the shipping tab or page for expected fulfillment times.
  • Some items may be marked as "Avalable to backorder," "Made to order," and/or show a lead time. In these cases refer to the information on the product page for expected fulfillment times.
  • For items that are sold out, please refer to the production calendar and the Q & A below for more information.

Q: When can I expect the item I'm interested in to become available?

A: For most items, please refer to the production calendar at the bottom of this page. This calendar shows when we expect to work on more substantial products. For some accessory products, production may not always be scheduled in advance and availability may be unpredictable.

FYI: If you do not see the item that you are interested in, then we do not know when it may become available (We're often not scheduled far out in advance and don't have a private schedule beyond what's shown!).

Q: Can I pre-order, back-order, or reserve an item?

A: We don't typically reserve products, however there are some exceptions to this. For example, if someone orders an in-stock Cirriform and wants to also order an out-of-stock Bug Shelter for it, if the Bug Shelter is expected within a couple weeks, we'll usually make arrangements to reserve one of the Bug Shelters and hold the order so shipping may be combined.

On occasion, select products may be available to back-order or pre-order. When this happens, that status will be shown on the product page. If you're signed up for the stock notification, you will receive a notice that the item is available to back/pre-order.

Q: Can you let me know when the item becomes available?

A: Yes. On the product page, enter your email address in the space provided to be automatically notified when inventory becomes available. If you don't see where you can do this, please let me know; sometimes there's a fluke in the settings and the field doesn't show. Please note that the email notification could get filtered out as spam. You can try to 'whitelist' info@yamamountaingear.com to make sure the email comes through.

NOTES ON USING THE CALENDAR

- For products shown on the calendar, you can typically expect the item to be made available towards the end, or soon after the period shown on the calendar. Sometimes, however, some items may be listed earlier in the period. For example, if the calendar shows that I'm working on tapered tarps, certain sizes may become available earlier within the period with other sizes coming later.

- Items that specify "ongoing production" mean that we are continually working on these items and doing our best to maintain inventory. If the item or a particular size is sold out, you can expect it to likely become available soon.

- Please note that you can change the month shown on the calendar using the arrows at the top.
