My hands run cold so first ordered large to use with mittens, not the best idea I had. Exchanged for medium. Snowshoed, temps just freezing, wore gauntlet gloves but with my hands would normally get cold at these temps after a while. Stayed very comfy so appreciate the extra warmth. I like to use the straps on the poles, fluctuated between difficulty opening bottom and getting it closed. Played with them more at home with lighter gloves and worked better. For me these will appear to be best for temps 30-45 ish F with lighter gloves. Going to make a raincoat to slip over them. Also going to look into adding a webbing loop inside to ease opening and a gripper strip to tips. And will practice more :)

The insulated pogies are *amazing* - I used them to ski 1000 miles through Alaska on the Iditarod Trail in sustained temperatures of -40F and colder. Highly, highly recommend.

Much better pole attachment mechanism than the neoprene barmitts I'd previously been using, and warmer to boot (especially for the weight)! I have a mild case of Raynaud's, and with the Pogies + medium and thin liner gloves they worked well at 13 degrees Fahrenheit, with 5-20 mile-per-hour winds (this was in the Sierras while backcountry skiing, so a dry, sunny cold). Well worth the price!

Nordic skiing at negative 10 degrees (negative 30 wind chill), there are no gloves that can keep your hands warm. With these over my hands and poles, even these extreme temps are manageable. And if I get too warm, or if I need to adjust my boots, etc, they're easy to flip up and over my wrists.

These pogies are finally the solution for keeping my fingers warm for Nordic skiing. I suffer from very poor circulation, resulting in a couple of cases of frostbite. The problem with Nordic skate ski poles is the velcro closure strap will not fit around a thick glove. Here in Alaska, I am regularly Nordic skiing in temperatures below -20C/-4F. Conditions in which I learned the hard way that "barfies" in "the screaming barfies" literally refers to the vomiting reflex that kicks in when circulation returns to frozen fingers. These pogies fix all that. I wear a medium thickness glove inside them and stay plenty warm. The functionality with ergonomic-style Nordic poles takes a little working out. Looks simple, but I have needed a few outings to figure out a smooth process for cinching the pole straps and then getting the pogies over my hands and poles. You have very little dexterity once the first pogie is on. Once they are on, forget about stopping to take photos using a touch screen, way too much hassle to disentangle pogies, velcro pole straps and gloves. This issue is specific to poles with ergonomic velcro straps. Poles with simple loop straps or no straps would be no hassle with these pogies. Looking forward to using these with simpler backcountry ski poles and for standing around at the bottom of ice climbs. Design and materials are superb. The outer fabric seems durable. The insulation is very warm. The inner lining very smooth. The magnetic closures are genius. The toggle is helpful for manipulating them on. Service is top notch. Gen very kindly reached out to offer the thickest samples that he had in stock when he learned of my circulation woes. Delivery was fast. No more fear about going out on the coldest days.

For the first time ever, I was able to participate in a Nordic ski marathon without freezing my hands. With the Pogies, at the American Birkebeiner's Korteloppet race, my hands were toasty warm while awaiting the starting gun at about 5 degrees F. They kept me warm for the first excruciatingly cold kms. By about KM 6, fully warmed up, and with the weather warming up, all I had to do was pop the pogies back and let my hands (and gloves) be exposed as normal. A MUST for those really cold Nordic ski days.

Really incredible! These should be sold right along with the Leki Trigger Shark system that uses a specific glove to attach securely to certain Leki skiing & trekking poles. I use that Leki glove inside these ponies and voila, its like magic warmth, feels like little quilts wrapping my hands in wonderful warmth and my fingers get COLD easily so I really really love these. Love them! I wore thin liner gloves inside the pogie and my hands stayed nice and warm. And the magnets allowed me to use a hiking pole with ease, with the opening sealing off the cold air perfectly.

Figured I could offer a review for these after owning them for a few months and using them during the winter. I got the pogies with double stuff. It's hard to assign a warmth rating because there many different ways to wear these: with or without liner gloves, with or without poles, while static or active. But I have found while walking/hiking and without liner gloves the double-stuff pogies have kept me warm to a tad below freezing. They definitely could go lower with liner gloves and with more intense activity. Because there is a lot of dead air space without liner gloves or without trekking poles, they may not provide the same warmth while static as a dedicated mitten. Beyond the warmth factor, the feature set is simple but very useful. Love the magnetic closure and one-handed cinch. I can even work the cinch while keeping my other hand in the pogie. The exterior fabric is only listed as 10D, but it feels more robust than what I usually expect from a 10D fabric. All things considered, I think the pogies are a clever product and wish there were products available like this.

I really like poggies on my kayak paddles, and barmitts on my bikes' handlebars - i regularly praise them as "the best accessory I've ever bought for my kayak/bike." I can now add the Yama poggies to the list for snow outings. I was a bit worried about how they would fit, if they would hinder my grip, mess with my push when cross-country skiing. It all works fine. After a bit of fiddling for 20 seconds to find the best way to wear them, they disappear, and just work, without interfering with my skiing/showshoeing. I'm not quite settled yet on how to take them off temporarily, say, to take a picture or grab a drink. You can leave them on the pole and disengage your hand, or leave them on and push them back over your wrist. Both work well so far, i'm still experimenting and doing one or the other at random, for no special reason. As noted below, i'm not skiing in very cold weather, so i i were in Minnesota or Alaska, i might prefer to keep them on, so i can protect my hands as if i were wearing mittens - from which i can poke out bare fingers for precision work as needed. They are _very_ warm. I was wearing regular semi-heavy gloves the first time, and had to switch to just liners after 30 mn. I now only wear thin gloves when using poles with crappy (sorry, cheap) plastic handles, and no gloves with my fancy cork ones: my (Reynauld's syndrome-prone digits) are nice and cozy. I'm in the Pacific NorthWest, current temps are around 30's, so not tremendously cold, but i'm confident that there would be a marked improvement in colder climates. The only con i found, and it's a minor one, is that when i cross-country ski energetically, they _do_ slightly get in the way when i'm pushing the poles all the way back, releasing the grips and pushing on the straps. I can still do it, the poggies just swivel a bit and crunch up around the top of the poles; They do not push hard on my hand, not hurt or stop me from full extension. My hands are still protected. There is zero interference when snowshoeing or not skiing toooo energetically. 2 fat thumbs up. Thanks for making my snow outings a bit more pleasant.

When I need to put down miles and I want to use my trekking poles, these are ideal. I have abysmal circulation, which means I usually spend a lot of my winter trips with numb hands. These little nuggets let me work up heat, vent, half-vent. They're wonderful.

Decided to give this design a whirl after struggling with gloves/mittens in circumstances where I just want my hands. In the dead of winter, nobody wants to take gloves off and on to manipulate small stuff or deal with their phone. This design is the perfect alternative... The magnets seal well around stuff (like poles). I find myself trying to use them in all sorts of situations they weren't intended for (driving didn't work particularly well). They are SUPER warm (got the extra insulation) and, of course, VERY well made. Recommend to anyone - thanks YAMA!

The insulated pogies have been awesome my past few trips, which have seen windy days with temps in the teens. My hands stay warm without getting overly clammy like they can in a mitten, or certain fingers getting cold like they can in a glove. And they're easy to vent without taking everything off if things start getting too warm. The magnetic zipper magically seals up snuggly against the pole, closes right up when you want to use it as a mitten alternative, and opens easily when you need to get your hands out for tasks that require a bit more dexterity. My hands have never felt more cozy in the winter!
