Learn about our Insulated Pogies

Our go-to for keeping hands warm and happy in winter. These Pogies are insulated with Primaloft Gold to create a cozy micro-climate around your hands. Slip them over trekking or XC-ski poles to stay warm. A magnetic zipper at the bottom pops open when you need full dexterity for tying shoes, grabbing a snack, or snapping a quick selfie.

Magnetic zippers

Magnets hold the bottom closed to keep out the cold, but open easily when you want to free your hands for technical tasks.

Primaloft warmth, waterproof shell

Insulated with a layer of 4 oz Primaloft Gold insulation, one of the most efficient synthetic insulations available. The insulation is sandwhiched between a waterproof breathable shell and a taffeta lining.

Temperature range

Everyone runs differently, and what's toasty for one might be finger numbing for another. We usually pack our Pogies as temps drop below freezing. Very warm-handed users may be fine with just the Pogies into the single digits, but most will want light gloves underneath. If your hands run cold (like ours), plan on a liner near freezing and add gloves as temps drop.

How to use

  • Slide your hand through the cinched opening and adjust for a comfortable fit - avoid overtightening.
  • To use with poles, slip the pole through the magnetic opening at the bottom and let the magnets snap shut. A little shake may be needed.
  • Most people keep the Pogies attached to their hands, but you can also leave them on the poles. Keep the wrist opening loose. This lets you slip your hand in and out, especially with oversized Pogies.

Sizing

Measure the length of your hand from the base of your palm to the tip of your longest finger to find your size. If you think you'll wear a light glove or liner under the pogie (we often do), measure with the glove on.

  • Small: 14 - 17cm | 5.5 - 6.75"
  • Medium: 17 - 20cm | 6.75 - 8"
  • Large: 20 - 22cm | 8 - 9"

There’s plenty of flexibility with sizing, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Size up for XC skiing or if you plan to keep the Pogies attached to your poles.
  • If you’re between sizes, sizing up usually works best. If you’ll mostly use them without poles, consider sizing down.
  • Pogies that are too big will still work, but they can feel floppy without poles and the magnetic closure can be harder to open.
  • Pogies that are too small may feel restrictive, can pop open more easily, and may make the magnetic edge more noticeable against bare skin.

Notes/FAQ:

  • How do I open the magnetic opening?
Spread your hand apart; spread sideways with your thumb and pinky while also pressing forward and up with your other fingers (this helps keep your thumb and pinky closer to the magnets). It can take a little practice before it comes naturally. Some people may find it easier to use one hand to to pull the pogie back over the opposite hand.
  • Do I need to seal the seams?
We generally don't seel the seams on our pogies since we're usually using them in temps below freezing, plus the seam will keep most moisture out as is.
